Part of my responsibilities at my employer is to plan, coordinate & facilitate events, then specifically, every one of us system one gigantic conference & trade show each summer time & more than three or numerous smaller workshops throughout the year. The gigantic event costs an arm & a leg because hotels are so incredibly extravagant, however plus, they rip you off by not allowing you to bring in outside food or drink. You must use the A/V dealer they tell you to use, & the prices are extravagant. The costs go on & on. As a result, I am consistently looking for event sponsors. Generally, the sponsors are the companies that do business with our members, however every once in a while an unexpected organization is willing to sponsor something. This happened to me recently when I reached out to the HVAC dealer that services the hotel. I asked them to sponsor the event by donating toward the heating & cooling costs, and much to my surprise, they agreed. The HVAC dealer wrote a check to my association & that donation went into the pot of money for conference. Generally, the HVAC companies do not have anything to do with that sort of thing. After all, they already service the hotel. However, this one cooling system maintenance supervisor thought that when some of our members are searching for a fantastic HVAC maintenance & replacement corporation, they might choose the one who put up a booth at the annual conference. I was quite glad & I absolutely hope that she gets a modern customer as a result of our event.
