My dad told me last year that I should get my furnace checked out and maintained during the summer time. When he first mentioned doing that, I thought that it sounded crazy. But, after all, my dad is a retired HVAC technician so it would make sense that he knows what he’s talking about. When I asked him why in the world I should waste money to work on my furnace when the weather outside is heating up, he said that there are several reasons why. He said that if you get your furnace serviced and maintained during the off season, you usually get better rates from the HVAC company. The other reason is that if you get your heating system worked on when it’s not in use during the summer time, you have a much better chance of getting it fixed before you actually need it. It’s not good if you wait until the temperatures outside are freezing to find out that you need a special part or filter for your furnace. That just means that you’ll have to wait for a longer period of time to get your heating fixed and back in service. And if that’s the case, then you’ll have to figure out some way to keep the rest of your home heated when your furnace isn’t working. I guess my dad has a lot of good points when it comes to working on your furnace during the summer. Now that he’s got me thinking about it, I wonder if I should get my air conditioning serviced during the winter!
